Here’s the final log that says backup was completed. And yet “A total of 0 files were processed.” I don’t understand this. The backup took a long time and lots of stuff seemed to be going on. I set the plugin up to exclude NO files, so it should have process all my files. During the process it got stuck on 99% for a very long time and I had to refresh my screen multiple times to jog it into completion. What is going on?

12:36:25: A total of 43MB of memory was used to complete this backup.
12:36:25: A total of 0 files were processed.
    12:36:25: Backup complete.
12:36:25: SQL backup complete. Starting file backup.
    12:36:24: Creating SQL backup.
12:36:11: Your time limit is 60 seconds and your memory limit is 128M
12:36:11: Backup started on Wednesday September 11, 2013.

    Gday,

I am working on improving the log for the next version. ??

Did any files make it to Dropbox?

    Cheers,
    Mikey

Yes. It appears that all of them did, but I’m not that intimate with all the files so it’s possible some didn’t. It is really unwieldy that they are not zipped, and I imagine that trying to restore from this could be a challenge– especially since it’s not my dropbox account and belongs to my client. Even though I have the login info, Dropbox won’t seem to let me download any of them. I may have to rethink where I send the backups.

Cool, It could be the counter was off for that one instance.

The core does not zip because it can be problematic for many hosts. You can, however, purchase the zip extension for this functionally.

Dropbox has a “download folder as zip” feature that is a nice way to get the entire contents of your backup in an archive.

I spent about an hour looking around dropbox for just such a feature and there was no way for me to download anything. I tried the same thing on a different account where I have the dropbox utility on my computer and I had no trouble. But with my client’s DB account there was no way. She would have to set up a share link because they kept insisting that if I did it they would have to mail somethjing to me to confirm I was legit. I finally threw up my hands.

Just found it. Can’t believe it was so hard to find before. Thanks for giving me the right language to search under.

    Hey Mikey,
Here’s one more question and then I’ll let you be. I have had the experience in the past where my site was hacked and I didn’t find out until a couple of days later. So I didn’t really know when the dastardly deed was done. With this plugin, I am assuming that I can only have one iteration of a backup at a time and that each subsequent backup alters only what has changed in the interim.

What it I have it set up for weekly backups and the backup just copies the hacked site and I have no previous “clean” version to fall back on.? That seems like a problem to me, given my past experience. Being able to keep clean backups to fall back on seems important. In this case, my client wants to manage her site by herself (cheaper). So she is not going to be downloading zips of the current snapshot as she goes. And I’m not going to do that either. Any thoughts?
