• Have installed (fresh) several times with same result. Have WordPress working on other systems for sometime without this problem. Have put on home system and all has gone as usual with the exception:
after login process the system puts user in /root/wp-admin directory without (seemingly) calling a program. I can then by-hand choose index.php and system will take me to dashboard. I can use dashboard ok but if I try to ‘go to site’ I get dumped in /root again without seemingly calling any program.

    Help please.

  • Try adding:

    DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm

to the top of your root WP .htaccess file.

    have index.php in root “htdoc/wordpress2/”
do not have a .htaccess file, using windows
