After upgrading site to the latest WooCommerce version we are seeing that for some types of Virtual products the order goes into Pending Payment or Cancelled state. users are trying multiple times to complete the order each time a new order ID is generated and again it goes into similar state of Pending Payment or Cancelled. Is it some known bug/issue? This happens randomly some users are able to complete payment within first time but thats 1 or 2 out of 10 orders.

  • Hi @cmsnext

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that some orders on your site have the order status: Pending Payment or Cancelled.

Can you please check if there any patterns to these orders? Like, same products, same product type, same categories, same locations, same payment gateway used?

We’re you able to replicate this issue as well on your site and received the same order status?

If not, can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce plugin is enabled, enable Cash on Delivery, create a test order and see if this works?

If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

If this did not resolve the issue, please share your System Status Report, that will help us further troubleshoot.

You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

Please also provide us a screenshot of the Order Notes for these orders. Please redact any sensitive information prior to sharing it here.

If you don’t already have a screenshot service installed, you can try https://snipboard.io or https://skitch.com/. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

Let us know how it goes!

Ok I think issues resolved after we have upgraded to the latest version & after we shifted back to PHP 7.4 instead of PHP 8
