• Hi,

I installed 2.9.1 (manually as the auto install has never worked for me) according to the nicely detailed instructions.

When I log in, the dashboard page is blank as is the “posts” page. The plugins page isn’t blank though.

The permissions on the admin folder, and it’s files are the same as on my other blog which isn’t showing blank pages.

I wonder if any of the experts on the forums have any advice for this junior WordPresser?

    Thanks
    David

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

Thanks for the reply. I actually found some references in the forums to the memory, and also version of php.

When I contacted our host, they said that they have php4 and php4. Defaulting to version 4. So, I had to add:

    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

to the htaccess, forcing it to use version 5, and it’s now working!

    Thanks for your kind assistance
