I have the same question. I often have to disable plugins to troubleshoot site problems. I use both lite and pro on separate sites. Thanks.

If you deactivate the plugin, and someone clicks on a pretty link while it’s deactivated, they will see a 404 page on your site.

    Hi Cartpauj,
I have same kinds of queries:
1- What if we update the plugin to new version, will that affect the existing links stored by the previous version?
2-How is this plugin better than the other plugin Gocodes which also have a decent amount of downloads?
3-I shouldn’t ask this but are there any plans where the lite version will be discontinued and only pro will be available which might help me to decide whether I should adopt this plugin for my affiliate programs.

    1) If you update, nothing is lost — all data is stored in the database so upgrading the files has no affect on your data.
    2) Haven’t used Gocodes so I can’t say. But Pretty Link rocks ??
    3) Pretty Link Lite (free edition) will be around for a long time. There are no plans to go Pro-only.

    Thanks Cartpauj.
Last reply solved all of my queries. I am using this plugin on my both the websites Monkshouts.org and also MSM-Foundation.org and it worked great without any trouble.
    Thanks for the great plugin.
    Cheers !!

    Hi Cartpauj,
After reading above Q&As, I still worry about “see a 404 page”, with 2 following queries:
1- If I change my website to another hosting and upload wp code/database again, What happens to the links I created with Pretty Link ?
2- If I deactivate or uninstall the plugin THEN active it again, Are all pretty links closed ?

    Thanks,
    Dam Le Hoang

    Hi Dam,
    1) As long as your migrate your database tables properly to the new hosting company you should be fine.
    2) Once re-activated all the links will work again.

    Hi Cartpauj,
Thanks a lot for your supporting.
My wordpress blogs will work fine with your Pretty Link for marketing tracking.
But for all my sale/landing pages using Blogger platform because of unlimited pages with free google hosting such as Blogger Landing Page, I don’t want to pay monthly for limited link tracking service. So, do you have any one time payment apps for blogger tracking same as Pretty Link, please let me know soon.

    Best Regards,
    Dam Le Hoang

We don’t. WordPress is the only supported platform currently. You could still create Pretty Links on a WordPress site and paste them into your blogger pages though.

    Hi cartpauj,
I know this is an old thread, but hoping you can help. We migrated our site to new servers and when I reactivated pretty link all of our old links are missing. We moved everything in the wp-content folder, would the database tables that the plugin needs have been in that folder or somewhere else? If you could provide a location to search that would be wonderful!
    All the best,
    Dan

    Dan,
Your web host operates the MySQL database as a separate service, so you’d need to access it via something like phpMyAdmin and export the prli_* tables. Hopefully you still have access to the old hosting setup?

Great, thank you so much cartpauj!
