After conversion of posts to custom posts there are still links showing posts

Hi,
After making a conversion from posts to custom_post
I see that the posts were successfully converted (in this example I converted 5 posts from post category “Test” to custom_post category “test”)
When I go and look inside the posts list I can see that there are zero posts (which is good).I then view the custom _posts list and can see that there are 5 custom_posts that now exist here (which is good).
However when i go to the category page for the posts, I can see a linkable number 5 next to the “test” category still.
When I click that linkable number 5 it takes me to the posts list for that (now converted) category and shows zero posts as above.So how do we clean up the category view that still shows our old number of posts as a linkable number?
