• Good afternoon,

I just built a new web page to replace an out of date one. When I was done I renamed the original web page from ‘original page’ to ‘original page old.’ I changed its URL by adding ‘old’ and made sure that the permalink was changed as well.

I then named the redesigned page to be ‘original page.’ I made sure that the URL and the permalink were both correct.

Now, no matter whether I go from page view from the dashboard, or if I click a link with ’original page’ when I click the link I’m redirected to ‘original page old.’

I simply can’t get to ‘original page.’

There was no redirection utilized in this process I just switched two names.

    I’ve cleared my cache.

Anybody have any ideas what might have happened?

Thank you in advance for your help

    Sincerely, Tim Magee.

  • Set the visibility of the old page to private or delete it (it will end up in the recycle bin if you have not deactivated it). WordPress should then only display the new page.

Thank you threadi, but I had already done exactly that. I’m thinking that my only solution is to rename the new page and intentionally do a redirect.
