I deactivated all the plugins and changed the theme to TwentyFifteen (performed this process twice). I’m still not able to edit the existing posts or type content/text in new posts (though I can type/write the post title). Nothing happens when you click on Visual/Text tabs. This usually happens when there is a theme or plugin conflict but this time there are no plugins and it’s the WordPress default theme yet I’m facing this problem.

Troubleshooting with your browser: Your browser can help you identify JavaScript issues or conflicts and this article can assist you in doing that diagnosis. This could help identify Visual Editor issues as well.

Thanks, I’ll try that and then update this post. However, meanwhile, I used another browser (this time Firefox, earlier was Chrome) and I still could not edit the posts/pages. So, it seems this isn’t a browser-specific problem. But if not all others are facing this same problem, it should be something else.

I turned on script debugging and it solved the problem! Thanks for the troubleshooting page link. It helped. ??

However, the problem persists after I remove/turnoff script debugging. ??

    Try clearing caches.

Clearing cache doesn’t help. Trying to diagnose the browser issues, I see errors in tinymce javascript file and the load-scripts.php.

Couldn’t make out what’s the issue/how to resolve so restored to 4.9.5 and happy that all is well. Will wait for 4.9.7 and hope that this issue is resolved in it.

I am having the same issue.

Please do not jump into other topics. If the troubleshooting already posted made no difference for you, then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. A lot more people will see your post this way. That way you stand a good chance of getting the assistance you want.
