I Love MLA and use it on all my sites.
I also Love Elementor and use it on all my sites…Along with many other favorite plugins as well.

About 2yrs ago, as I recall, Elementor started having one small bug that was just annoying enough to not be too annoying and no one could duplicate the problem.

When you applied a new color to something it would show black in the preview window of the settings panel instead of the color of the style you set. The color would set on whatever it was you were styling but, in the settings the color swatch of the color you were choosing would just go black.

Well, I figure it out. For some reason when both MLA and EL or ELP are active this happens.

Here’s a quick screen cast of what is happening.

If you guys could figure this out I’m sure there are a LOT of people it would make very happy.

With MLA having 850,000+ downloads and Elementor over 2M…I’m sure there is a lot of crossover.

Thank you for a great tool.

Thanks for raising this issue after so much time and for posting the screen cast of the symptoms.

I have installed the free version of Elementor (version 2.6.5) and reproduced the problem on my test system. As you reported, it looks like the MLA Media Manager Enhancements are causing the problem, although I have been unable to determine why/how.

You can avoid the problem by unchecking the “Enable Media Manager Enhancements” box in the “Media Manager/Media Grid Enhancements” section of the Settings/Media Library Assistant General tab. Scroll to the bottom of the page to save the new setting.

The Elementor code is quite complex and my JavaScript skills are limited.I will open a support request in the support forum for the Elementor free version. If you can get the Elementor support team to look at this they are better equipped to make progress. Of course, I will make any MLA changes required to resolve the problem.

I will post an update here if I have progress to report. Let me know if you get any help from Elementor. Thanks for your understanding and your patience.

Thank you so much for this fix…not sure exactly what that particular setting does, haha, although it appears to have worked and I haven’t noticed a change in what I use MLA for.

I did reached out to Elementor but they weren’t any help. They said they couldn’t be compatible with all plugins. I don’t know if they tried or not…but I didn’t get anywhere with them. You would probably have better luck with them asking specific questions about certain things within the code, things I would have a clue about.

    Thanks again

Thanks for confirming that the workaround I suggested was helpful. Unchecking the “Enable Media Manager Enhancements” option prevents MLA from sending JavaScript code to the browser that is interfering with the Elementor code that sets the background color preview.

You would only notice the missing code if you use the WordPress Media Manager Modal (popup) Window to insert and image in a page/post, set a featured image or compose a WordPress [gallery] shortcode. I hope that’s not a problem for your application.

I posted your issue in the Elementor support forum and I will leave this topic unresolved until I hear back from them. Thanks for your understanding and your patience.

I opened a topic in the Elementor support forum:

Interaction between Elementor and Media Library Assistant

I received this response from one of their developers:

I tried taking a look at what could be the cause and the only thing I can come up with is jQuery version collision more specifically The $.fn.css() method.

But I wouldn’t worry about it too much as we are upgrading our Color Control in the upcoming versions.
    thanks.

They have closed the GitHub issue and resolved the support topic, so I don’t anticipate any further action until a new Elementor version is released. I am marking this topic Resolved, but please update it or start a new topic if the problem persists after Elementor is updated. Thanks for your continued interest in MLA.
