Two ways affiliate marketing campaigns launched are either by using readymade affiliate plugins (like Affiliates) or joining affiliate marketing marketplaces (like ShareASale/Impact).

How about launching an affiliate marketing program (or I think more appropriate name could be partner program) by creating specific form and page for each partner? I think using a community plugin like BuddyPress will be suffice. Not sure if I still need to take help of an online form plugin (my preference would be Jotform). In this way suppose from the profile page of a partner named John in which an online form added, I get a lead submission, I can easily track. One advantage I see is partner will have his or her own specific page which might not be a big deal for many, but the target audience here is rural localities whose participants are not that tech savvy.

One disadvantage I see is there will be separate page and form for each partner, thereby consuming more memory/resource.

Seeking opinion if others have achieved success doing the same or any word of advise.

I’ve never developed an affiliate site, but I do know a lot about what WP is capable of and how it manages its data.

A separate page and form for each partner needn’t take up that much resource. They would presumably be template based, so the extra resource needed would only be what is unique and different for each partner. Multiplied by the number of partners of course. If the data is primarily textual, it doesn’t take up that much DB resource. Images don’t consume much DB resource either, though they can certainly add up to consume significant server disk space.

If you have so many partners that this becomes a problem, I’d say it’s a good problem to have ?? What do you envision for these partner pages? An advert type of page will use much less resource than an infinite scroll product catalog.

Any form creation plugin will suffice as long as you have a field that relates the form to a partner. For partner page’s content I recommend some sort of custom field plugin so a consistent template layout can be imposed on each page so that a cohesive aesthetic can be maintained from page to page throughout your site. None of this will give you actual affiliate functionality, you still need a plugin for that as well. Some affiliate plugins might even include form and custom field functionality without you needing additional plugins.

If you do find the need for multiple plugins to do what you want, expect to need some custom coding to tie everything together.

    Thanks so much!

While this might not appear refined and I might not implement practically, but suppose I create a Jotform account for each of the partners. Then add an online form from their Jotform account to corresponding partner WordPress pages. Then I think what the partner will refer can be tracked without any affiliate plugin.

I’ve no experience with Jotform. I assume its forms are embedded in your WP pages using a provided embed code which in turn results in some sort of iframe element containing the form. AFAIK it is not possible to track events within an iframe. All interaction goes back to Jotform, your server is not involved. To track form events you’d need Jotform to send your server some sort of webhook request telling it what’s going on. But not knowing Jotform, I could be all wrong on this.

Additionally, each form would be a mish-mash of whatever each partner decides they want. The appearance of all these different forms on your site will lack any cohesiveness. Not very refined as you say ??

I think you’re better off with your own standard form placed on each partner’s page. Then tracking is easily managed as the form’s submission is processed on your server. Creating a custom HTML form without any plugins isn’t too difficult. Where things get more difficult is in the processing of the form’s submitted data. You either need the help of a plugin or bespoke developed code to do this.

Thanks so much for the detailed explanation.
