Affiliate links in WordPress
-
I have recently signed up with an affiliate program(CJAffiliate), just to link a couple of books on my WordPress site. The links generated work fine when typed directly into a browser, however when I add the link to a page on my site and then click it, it directs me to the parent page of the site I’m trying to link to, rather than the product page.
For example, the link I’ve got here:https://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXX?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.betterworldbooks.com%2Fhealing-sounds-id-XXXXXXXXX.aspx&cjsku=XXXXXXX
takes you to the product page, but adding as a link:The url gets reformatted to this:
https://www.betterworldbooks.com/?utm_source=Affiliate&utm_campaign=Text&utm_medium=Product_Catalog&utm_term=XXXXXXXX&utm_content=Homepage
in the browser.Something in WordPress, perhaps a plugin (?) is stopping the link from being sent as is. I tried deactivating Yoast and Akismet, but that made no difference. Other plugins I use include Redux Framework (I’m using a child theme of Evolve), and some simpler plugins such as A3 lazy load which shouldn’t impact on links.
What could be causing a link to be re-formatted and re-directed?
