Affecting manual theme updates

    I have several websites where I have been using this plugin very effectively to prevent the automatic WordPress updates. Recently, however, my theme Striking Multiflex posted an update on their update api. However, none of my WordPress sites recognize the update. Even if I select to check for updates, I get told that I am using the latest version, which I am not (I have Striking Multiflex 1.2.2, and the latest is 1.2.3.) This update notification has worked fine for years up until recently. I am just wondering if WordPress might have changed something in the latest version that causes the settings of no automatic updates in this plugin to prevent the regular manual notifications?

    Hi Mark,

    You’ll want to ask the developer of that Theme what’s going on. Their update API may not play well with the core update API.

    Thank you, Chip. I did communicate with the theme author. Striking Multiflex is one of the most advanced themes. They reported that there are many things that could cause the update to be missed, mostly resource issues such as timeouts or memory limitations. They suggested it is easier just to update using ftp than to spend the time tracking down the specific culprit. The updates have actually started working again, so perhaps something was happening at the host at that point. Anyway, this had noting to do with the Update Control plugin.
