Advogato cross-functionality

  • Hi all. I’m looking for two specific features for a plugin/hack for integration with the diary service at Advogato (https://www.advogato.org).
    First off, a quick script to import from Advogato. Advogato has a nice XML-RPC API for this stuff, but I’m not sure how to import to WordPress, especially given that the later has a lot more information associated with each post (a title, category, etc.)
    Second, I’d like a way to have certain posts (or all posts) made in WordPress be cross-posted to Advogato.
    If anyone already has some tools for doing these, I’d love to hear about them. The later one for sure I know I can write, but why duplicate effort if someone else has already done the work, eh? ??

  • You can probably get some hints from the LJ Autoupdate script.
    If the XMLRPC is straightforward and simple it should be easy to export. Import might not be too tough either, the biggest thing you need to do is map the missing information somehow….like make all posts from Advogato go to a Category of Advogato in WP.
