https://from-the-sidelines.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/forget-mystery-meat-how-about-mystery.html
Coming from all different IPs different countries.

Yes, that is correct.
i now get this message
Notice: BPS Query String Exploits Code Changes
Older BPS Query String Exploits code was found in BPS Custom Code. Several Query String Exploits rules were changed/added/modified in the root .htaccess file in BPS .49.6.
Copy the new Query String Exploits section of code from your root .htaccess file and paste it into this BPS Custom Code text box: CUSTOM CODE BPSQSE BPS QUERY STRING EXPLOITS and click the Save Root Custom Code button.
This Notice will go away once you have copied the new Query String Exploits code to BPS Custom Code and clicked the Save Root Custom Code button.Actually I see a mistake here.
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} (havij|libwww-perl|wget|python|nikto|curl|scan|java|winhttp|clshttp|loader) [NC,OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} (havij|libwww-perl|python|nikto|scan|java|winhttp|clshttp|loader) [NC,OR]
The 2 rules should be these:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} (havij|libwww-perl|wget|python|nikto|curl|scan|java|winhttp|clshttp|loader) [NC,OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} (;|<|>|'|"|\)|\(|%0A|%0D|%22|%27|%28|%3C|%3E|%00).*(libwww-perl|wget|python|nikto|curl|scan|java|winhttp|HTTrack|clshttp|archiver|loader|email|harvest|extract|grab|miner) [NC,OR]
If you are seeing that Notice then you are using older BPS Query String Exploits code in the CUSTOM CODE BPSQSE BPS QUERY STRING EXPLOITS Custom Code text box. Remove the old code and add the new code.

still get message
Remove the old code and add the new code.
what is the new code? The check looks for old BPS Query String Exploits code in this Custom Code Text box: CUSTOM CODE BPSQSE BPS QUERY STRING EXPLOITS.
So the old code must exist in that Custom Code text box. Delete the old code. What I suspect is you have 2 blocks of code in that text box old and new code.# BEGIN BPSQSE BPS QUERY STRING EXPLOITS # The libwww-perl User Agent is forbidden - Many bad bots use libwww-perl modules, but some good bots use it too. # Good sites such as W3C use it for their W3C-LinkChecker. # Add or remove user agents temporarily or permanently from the first User Agent filter below. # If you want a list of bad bots / User Agents to block then scroll to the end of this file. started again with no code added code from htaccess then modified bits we added, seems ok now i think?
thank you so much!!Actually I see the problem. Do these steps.
Delete all code in the CUSTOM CODE BPSQSE BPS QUERY STRING EXPLOITS.
click the save custom code button.
go to the security modes page and click the create secure.htaccess file button.
Now go to the htaccess file editor tab page, click the secure.htaccess tab and copy the new BPS Query String Exploits block of code to Custom Code and edit it and add your new rule.
click the save custom code button.
go to the security modes page and click the create secure.htaccess file button and activate root folder bulletproof mode again.Yep that is the new BPS Query String Exploits code.
Thanks so much for the help. i assume bots like google and adsense are ok with this
If you specifically block something (Google or Google Adsense, etc) it will blocked otherwise it will not be blocked/forbidden.
seems k, can fetch as googlebot, appreciate the help now to see if i have blocked those bad boys
In real basic terms, without taking up too much time, what is all that code specifically doing ( sorry bit over my head)
A lot! ??
The Security filters check for a match. If there is a match then that Request/person is blocked/forbidden. Basic enough for ya?
