Hello @mike80222 and thanks for reaching out to us!

I can check to verify that it’s set up correctly.

Can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

    Thanks again!

Thanks so much. I just sent the report. Do you want me to send the “before” .htaccess file too? Or anything else?

Right now this is just a test site. I have two more sites at Siteground I want to install on, so I’d like to try to understand what going on under the hood here, not just if this site is working. This site is a “GrowBig” as is one of the other ones. But the most important one is a “GoGeek.” (That one has to be taken down for maintenance before I do anything with it, as there are users, transactions, etc.)

I have no idea if those Siteground names mean anything to you or not, but since you guys have specific instructions for SiteTools, I’m thinking maybe you know something about Siteground specifics. I’m concerned now that there maybe be differences between the GrowBig and GoGeek accounts.

Also, if there is any specific documentation that I should make sure I’ve read, please let me know.

Again, thank you for all the help!!!

Thanks for sending that diagnostic and sorry for the delayed reply!

It looks like your Firewall is currently optimized as I see the auto_prepend_file value is set correctly. You should be able to switch the firewall into Enabled and Protected now.

Siteground disables .user.ini files by default, which means you won’t be able to activate the Firewall in Extended Protection mode in the plugin. However, we have seen before that when they release a new branch of PHP then a .user.ini file is allowed for a short time and then is disabled so the firewall may optimize initially automatically in the plugin but then will no longer be in Extended Protection mode when SiteGround disable .user.ini functionality for that branch of PHP. If the firewall optimizes automatically then add the php.ini code as a fallback.

    Instructions can be found here:

    https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/optimizing-the-firewall/#alternative-setups

Following that guide results in a php.ini file being generated in the site root.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Thanks again!
