Advice on directory structures
-
Newbie attempting to take an existing Blogger blog hosted on my own site (not Blogspot) into WordPress.
When I first setup my blog in 2003, I chose a directory structure that I thought was logical but which I later learned made it impossible for Blogger or Technorati to search the blog correctly. Readers were unable to find anything.
Since I’m already hosting the site, I’m tired of dealing with Blogger’s problems and would like to go to WordPress, but I absolutely want to make sure the directory structure is perfect from the start.
Any advice on doing this?
I’m thinking of putting the blog in my domain like this:
https://www.domainname.com/zzz/
That would be the root level for the blog. I’m assuming I could put all the WordPress components into a folder like this:
https://www.domainname.com/zzz/wp
Right?
I want to put the graphics for the blog in a folder like this:
https://www.domainname.com/zzz/images
Will that create any problems?
In short, since I am new to this, what is the best approach for clarity and “cleanliness” sake? And which, of course, doesn’t break anything!
Thanks in advance!
(PS- The Five Minute Install claim is laughable. Someone needs to take a look at Apple for ease of use help!)
