Advice needed – .Net / Windows or Unix hosted site

  • I am a Windows person, have’t really used Unix at all. So far I have been developing my wordpress based site on Windows using WebMatrix (IIS, MySql, etc) which has been relatively smooth going.

    Now when I look at choosing a hosting environment I notice that .Net solutions seen to be less prevalent, less complete, and they are certainly more expensive (by a few $ per month) when compared to Linux.

    Would the switch to Linux be relatively easy, and if so would it be worthwhile compared to sticking with .Net, and why?

    All objective advice welcome. ??

  • Linux is more stable, secure and faster. If you use a cPanel host you won’t even feel like you are on a linux server. Linux sounds scary but it is the best. Migrating should not be an issue if it is WordPress. Some hosts will even transfer your WordPress installation for free. If you spoke spanish I’d recommend our company.

    Thanks for the input and apologies for the delay in responding – I took your advice (and that of some good articles I found on the www) and went for Linux.
