The Yoast SEO plugin helps implement schema.org structured data for the posts and pages on your website, which helps let the search engines know more about what that particular post or page is about.

One of the main benefits of adding that schema data is the possibility of it being marked up and eligible to being a rich result on the search results, which helps it stand out among other websites.

However, please do note that even if you do set individual settings (such as the Article type), it’s not always a guarantee that it will be marked up as a rich result. However, it’s good to set that schema just to be consistent and let the search engines know what that post or page is about – https://yoast.com/help/selecting-content-types-in-schema-settings/
