I’ve set up a gallery with link settings:
    Link to: media file
    link image size: large
    Link trigger: Lightbox
The gallery thumbnails are set to medium

At the front end, when I click on an image, it loads into a Lightbox ok. Then when I click on the nav arrows, the same image reappears marginally larger. I then click a second time on the arrows and the next image at last appears. Subsequent images work just fine. Doesn’t matter which image I select from the gallery.

Is there anything I can do so I don’t have to click twice to get the Lightbox display working? Have I missed a setting somewhere?

I’m using the Foobox lightbox plugin to provide lightbox facilities with these settings, all enabled:

WordPress Galleries: Enable FooBox for all WordPress image galleries.
WordPress Images With Captions: Enable FooBox for all WordPress images that have captions.
Attachment Images: Enable FooBox for all media images included in posts or pages.

    thanks
    Nick

  • Likely that is just a conflict because you are adding a second lightbox. In your gallery Link triggers settings set that to none so that only your foobox lightbox is running. Else remove that foobox plugin.

Thanks Ben – it seems that with the link trigger disabled, I’m still getting the double action on the first image. (First click puts image into lightbox as a single image, second click gets the navigation going)

If I disable Foobox and use link trigger in the gallery, the gallery works but all the single images on the site don’t get to a lightbox, and I really want every image gallery or single image to work in the same way.

So Foobox has to go. Any suggestions for a lightbox plugin that will work with the advanced gallery AND with other single images? I’ll go hunting for myself of course!

    thanks

    Hi Nick,
I’m not seeing a double lightbox when opening your gallery images. Were you able to resolve this?

    Hi Hannah

Yes – at least I think so!

I removed Foobox lightbox (reluctantly because the user experience was pretty good) and replaced it with Responsive Lightbox and Gallery by dfactory.

Then I removed all references to lightbox in the Advanced Gallery trigger field in all my galleries and so far it seems to work ok.

The new plugin has a whole myriad of features that I’ve kept switched off for now and it has a whole number of different lightbox styles that I’m going to work through to find one that looks and feels right for my site.

    Hope this helps
