Advanced Editor Tools; Post lists do not add bullets or numbers to the next line

Advanced Editor Tools with Gutenberg block editor.

When I create or edit a post and I start a list, ordered or unordered, the bullet or number shows up on the first line but not when I “return”, the new line underneath doesn’t have a bullet or number. Normally this happens when you “shift+return”, but I am only using “return” so a new line should have a new bullet/number.

Example:

• First line has a bullet
  Second line does not

1. First line has a number
   Second line does not

I do now know why this is not working.
