Well, 503s make me think of mod_security. Check if it’s not what’s causing your trouble. https://www.s2member.com/kb/mod-security-random-503-403-errors/

Hi Cristian- the download file without the key while logged in works fine- I’ve already had host admin whitelist the s2member entries mod_security but either I am getting the 403 invalid key error or, when I use the full shortcode, bring me back to the same (download) page.

The full php code version doesn’t work at all- I am running with Exec-PHP WYSIWYG which is going to cause problems with PHP code in the editor, but with the shortcodes, it is generating a dynamic link, just with the problems above.

No luck on the plugins or theme. The only thing the server check comes up with is:

Plugin Directory Checksum

and memory limit.

I was wondering if there was anyway to save the s2member settings before reinstalling it?

Make sure the deactivation safeguards are enabled. WP Admin -> s2Member -> General -> Deactivation Safeguards

And if you have s2Member Pro you can export the options to back them up. WP Admin -> s2Member -> Import/Export -> Options

You could try, in a separate directory for this test, installing a clean copy of WP and add just s2Member to test if you can reproduce the problem there.
