Advanced Blocking not working at all !

I just tested this feature and it works so there must be some specific problem on your site. Which host name are you trying to block on advanced blocking?

Still it won’t add it to list on the advanced blocking page

As a test. I added “SOL-FTTB.215.121.118.46.sovam.net.ua” to my “Advanced Blocking” with no trouble.

Are you saying you keyboard or copy/paste words into the dialog box and nothing happens after you click the “Block Visitors Matching…” button?

In that case, it sounds like you have a malfunctioning installation of Wordfence. I’d go through normal trouble shooting steps for WordPress plugins, most of which are junk with no end to conflicts, security vulnerabilities and just plain age. Wordfence is one of the better plugins IMHO, but not without problems as these forums clearly demonstrate…

I did copy paste it into “host name” box and then clicked
“block visitors matching this pattern”

NOTHING happened i.e. it never did add it to the list

Also MTN remember I told you about this /feed link issue with web master G console that you told me has to do with some kind comment threat.

Can you help a fellow WP user (me) ?

Hello again droid,
You could try loading the page and doing that action while keeping a browser console open and see if you get any errors on that page that may be preventing it from loading correctly.

means everything is working like it should without any alert or errors.

I’m not sure what you mean by “for show”. The diagnostics page shows the details of your system setup.

Droid, you clearly need professional help you would hire specifically and give admin access to, or perhaps you should uninstall Wordfence and try different security plugin.

Please, when you refer to other comment threads provide a link. I have a good mind but it’s not as good as my hard drive.

I’ve heard that 24x7ServerSolutions dot com does a good job. They appear to have very reasonable prices.

So diagnostics does not even check,test or diagnose the working function of WF which should be the priority of that diagnostics?
because system check is available 24/7 on server and by tons of WP plugin out there which make WF diagnostic kind of redundant.

So would I uninstall and reinstall ?
Would that work as a fix in this case?

I also have Wordfence installed and have added numerous domains to be blocked on several different sites and over the past 10 days Wordfence shows 0 blocks for the domains blocked. The Google Analytics continues to show hits for these blocked domains. The sites are all hosted at SiteGround.

Hi @droid,

Since this problem is not happening on other sites using Wordfence, it’s not something we can fix for you. The diagnostic page helps sort out many configuration issues, but it can’t test for every possible issue, especially when other plugins or themes are involved.

Have you tried using the browser console that @wfasa mentioned? That can help show issues caused by other plugins on Wordfence pages. We have instructions here if you’re not familiar with it:

In the browser’s developer tools, along with the console, you can also check the Network tab, to see if any of the requests are showing errors.

Another way to troubleshoot plugin conflicts is to disable all plugins except for one (Wordfence in this case), switch the site temporarily to one of the default WordPress themes like ‘twentyfifteen’, and try again. If it works, you can enable other plugins one-by-one testing in between, to see which one breaks the feature. More details on that are availalbe here:

Hi Matt,

In all fairness and honesty,it is gross negligence and a cope out for you to say that I ‘m the only one having 50:50 ratio of users on this support ticket saying that is not working is very high failure rate don’t you think ?

Meaning that could be translated into similar results on a larger scale of users which is alarming since the primary function of wordfence is to BLOCK out those bad IP criminal activity.

I did exactly what you suggested verbatium step by step and still blocking by host name in advanced blocking and now even blocking by IP is not working

So instead of blaming the compliant WF users,how about simply fixing wordfence to make it deliver what it is suppose to deliver.

Keep up the good work of having WF working like it should by fixing bugs
