When using the plugin in Standard mode, your website is served as AMP-first which is probably why you saw a noticeable improvement. It may also be why your Ads were not working because you’ll need to include the Adsense code in an AMP compatible way. If you’re using Auto Ads, some alternatives are using this mini plugin or a plugin like Site Kit which can detect and place the appropriate AMP version on your site.
When using the plugin in Transitional or Reader modes, you’re providing a paired experience which means both AMP and non-AMP pages are available. Depending on where your visitors originate they will be served either experience (for example, search engines like Google or Bing will serve your AMP version). To test your AMP pages, append ?amp
to the URL of Transitional and Reader mode pages (for Reader mode posts append /amp
).
