We recently updated the Advanced Ads plugin, and we now have the AdSense ‘fix to avoid a severe impact on your revenue’ message.

Within Advanced Ads a warning box displays ‘One of your sites is missing the AdSense publisher ID in the ads.txt file. Create one now’.

The publisher ID is present, however underneath this is the statement ‘The file was not created’.

Ads are showing, in usual frequency and placement, but earnings are about 1/4 of their previous level.

How do we rectify the Publisher ID within Advanced Ads? The WordPress File Manager is also ‘not supported’, so a separate txt. file cannot be uploaded.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi thelegocarblogger,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I guess that Advanced Ads does not create the ads.txt file because there already exists one.

When I try to open your ads.txt, I get redirected to an external ads.txt service. Is your website connected with anything like this?

    Best regards,
    Joachim

    Hello Joachim

    Many thanks for your advice.

We did have another ads.txt plug-in active. Whilst this wasn’t an issue before the update we have disabled and deleted this second plug-in and we no longer have an error message within Advanced Ads : )

Google AdSense still contains an error message at the moment, but we guess that may take some time to correct itself.

Thanks again, your assistance is much appreciated!

    Hi TLCB,

    Thanks for your reply.

The ads.txt looks great now. I guess the same as you: the notification will disappear soon when Google found the ads.txt file.

Please, keep in mind that Advanced Ads imports all notifications from your AdSense account from all connected websites. If you have a second website connected with the same account that doesn’t have an ads.txt, the notification will persist.

If you have any doubts, please, take a look at the notifications in your AdSense account.

    Best regards,
    Joachim

Hello in this case I did wan’t also to give a reply. The PlugIn doesn’t create this file on my website. Not like the thread starter had a problem with another plugin, i haven’t installed one and after I did create ads.txt with the PlugIn I checked and there hasn’t been a file created on the main Website-Folder. I downloaded the ads.txt manually from GoogleAdsense and put it into directory your PlugIn started to inform about third party ads.txt. But if I set controlled by your PlugIn all what happens is that ads.txt is deleted or in which directory should it be?

Maybe you can add an information in the Plugin in which directory the ads.txt will be created/found.
