    I use sitekit for adsense.
But I do not want to display automated ads, because in that case all my page content will be a mess.

Instead I only want to display an ad on certain spots (pages or articles) of my wordpress page.
    How can I do that?

    Hi there @werny,

Great question in relation to using AdSense within Site Kit, but without Auto ads. You can do this, however you would need to insert your single ad unit code manually, or via a third party plugin. If using a third party ads specific plugin, such as Advanced Ads or Ad Inserter you can use the same single ad unit across certain sports, to your liking.

After placing your single ad unit code on your site you can revisit your Site Kit AdSense settings and ensure the plugin has not placed AdSense code on your site, as this refers to the Auto ads snippet. You’ll find the settings under “Site Kit > Settings > Connected Services > AdSense > Edit“, all from within your WordPress dashboard.

Once you have the above complete you can view your AdSense data within the Site Kit dashboards, without having used the plugin to place your AdSense code. As long as you’ve placed your single ad unit code via other means ads will appear only where you’ve placed them, either manually or via another plugin.

Note that you may also wish to confirm that Auto ads are off at AdSense level. Without doing so it’s possible for Auto ads to appear on your site via this setting, with only single ad unit code placed on your site (Ads > Overview > Edit > Auto ads).

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

I also forgot to mention that if you prefer to keep Auto ads active on your site an alternative to using single ad units is to use the Auto ads settings for a similar outcome. You can restrict ads on certain pages or restrict ads from areas of your site. You can also change the ad load if you find there are too much, or too little ads appearing.

As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.

Well now I am more confused than before ??
I installed the Ad Inserter Plugin.
But now I have to enter che code for Block 1 manually?
Where do I get the code?
And can I leave the settings for AutoAds active, also when I insert ads manually with this shortcode?

    Hi @werny,

Not a problem, hopefully I can assist and help out with the confusion. As you don’t want to use Auto ads on your site, you enter any single ad unit code into any Ad Inserter block, and then define where you want this single ad unit code to appear on your site.

Where do I get the code?

You get this code from your AdSense account. I’ve made a video of how to create an Ad unit below. Note that you’ll find full instructions here:

And can I leave the settings for AutoAds active, also when I insert ads manually with this shortcode?

As you’ve expressed a desire not to use Auto ads then you can disable Auto ads from running from your single ad units if you wish (Ads > Overview > Edit > Auto ads).

Let me know if you have any further queries on this.

Note also that if you’re finding the process of using single ad units complex you may wish to once again consider using Auto ads via a Site Kit placement. You can then lower your ad load if you’re finding too much ads, or restrict ads from certain parts of URLs of your site, all using the Auto ads settings over on your AdSense account.
