I installed Advanced Ads and have used placements. I’m using Ad Manager but not AdSense.

My ads will not show up. Can you see why? There are no ads on the home page but all other pages are supposed to show on the right sidebar.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi prodman1,

thanks for opening a new thread.

I checked a post like https://discovertaos.com/why-taos-now/taos-now-weve-got-airline/, but don’t find any Ad Manager tags. Did you change your setup or don’t refer to “Google Ad Manager”?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

I have restored the site to a setup using Advanced Ads. I still cannot get my ads to show up. I am using WP Engine which used cache. I am using a single placement (in three positions) to rotate over 100 ads.

All of my ads have a Ready status. Yet nothing goes up. I am getting an error about cache being a problem but don’t all websites use cache these days? It’s also never been an issue on any other website I’ve done.

    Hi prodman1,

the warning about caching is not saying that you shouldn’t use it, just that you need to be aware of the consequences. E.g., when displaying ads for different users, caching might serve the wrong ad. Our cache-busting feature fixes that, but is not needed if you don’t use visitor conditions or rotating groups.

The current problem on your site is this warning in the error console: ReferenceError: googletag is not defined.

This means that you are using the body tags for Ad Manager, but did not include the header tag.

Please see https://wpadvancedads.com/doubleclick-for-publishers-wordpress/ for instructions on how to add it.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

The instructions are a bit confusing. I made a placement with the head tag. Then I created an ad using the body tag.

Now all I see is head code where the ad is supposed to be.

    Hi prodman1,

I am not really sure what you changed, but the body tags looked fine. You needed to create a new ad, put the header code in there and use the “head” placement to add it to your site.

If the ads in your head code match the ads in the body then, technically, all is fine.

When the head tag is added, you can add ?googfc (like https://discovertaos.com/why-taos-now/taos-now-weve-got-airline/?googfc) to your URLs to open the Ad Manager error console, which is helpful when debugging Ad Manager.

I will buy the pro version and try to get support that way. My placement now doesn’t show up in the sidebar widget at all.

I’m very confused. All the ids match. I created the Placement, which seems to be an ad. I created an ad and associated it with the Placement. Nothing.

I have a license key. Could you please tell me where I use it because all I am getting is your promo pages. I had to get someone else to buy the key because I do not own this site.

    Hi prodman1,

thanks for supporting Advanced Ads with your purchase.

Please see https://wpadvancedads.com/manual/how-to-install-an-add-on/ about installing an add-on and adding the license key.
