I am using Auto Ads, so I put the code snippet in
Ad Inserter settings > Gear tab > Header tab
There are three blocks set up: “After 1 Paragraph”, on posts and static pages, no exceptions, “After Excerpt” for Homepage only, and After Post, for Posts only, no exceptions.

I saw the ads very briefly, then nothing, so I assume I did something to stop them, but cannot figure out what.

WP Cache has been cleared, then deactivated. Ad Inserter debugging is on, with remote debugging and label blocks. Please let me know if you need anything else to diagnose this.

    Thanks!

Code for Auto ads is properly inserted in the head section.
But google doesn’t serve ads (yet).
Maybe you just need to wait for a while.

Blocks 1 and 3 are not inserted because they are empty.
What code do you have in blocks 1 and 3?

Ohhh – thank you. You just explained where I went wrong – there’s nothing in those blocks: I thought that the Auto Ads would just figure something out and put it there. Obviously that’s not the way it works. Need to read the instructions, I think.

Follow up: I just put some old ad code in there and now it is showing up.

AdSense Auto ads is a code that you insert on every page once and it will automatically display AdSense ads on positions chosen by the code. Auto ads use Google’s machine learning to pick the best placements on your pages to show ads. You only need to add one piece of code to all your pages, and let Google take care of the rest.

Block 1 is inserted after the first paragraph as configured.
However, the ad block is blank.

I would wait for some time until google crawls your pages and hopefully enables serving ads.

Use this url with debugging functions to see where it is inserted:

    I already see ads.
