    Hi!

    I have this, initially:
    1. Common ad, which should be shown by default on all pages (display condition: show everywhere)
    2. Custom ad, which should be shown only on specific pages (display condition: show on page XXX)

Both Common ad and Custom ad are added on one group, which is just inserted into all pages.

What I’m trying to do, is:
if it’s specific page, show only Custom ad. If not (no specific ad configured for this page),- show Common ad.

Currently, I can do this by adding exclusions for Common ad (show everywhere except page XXX), but I want it to be like ‘If special ad is set to the page, show it. Otherwise, show common‘, to simplify adding ads.

I’m using Pro version, if it matters.

    Is it possible?

    Hi dependencyinjection,

Thank you for describing your beautiful use case that you can implement with the basic version of Advanced Ads. In this tutorial, you will find a detailed description of configuring such fallback ads.

To make a long story short: Add both ads to one group (ordered ad type) and define a higher ad weight for the ad with the “specific pages” condition than for the fallback ad.

Then include this group on your page or assign it to a placement.

Advanced Ads will then try to show the ad with the higher ad weight first. If this is not possible due to the defined conditions, the plugin will “jump” to the next ad, in this case, to your fallback.

By the way, the fallback ad does not need a display condition like “show everywhere” to appear everywhere. Because adding display conditions is technically always a limitation from “show this ad everywhere” to “show this ad only on pages that meet particular specifications.

If you use caching on your website, please enable cache busting to ensure that the ads rotate correctly.
