Admins can't post after 3.5 upgrade

  • Hi all
    I just upgraded to 3.5 and now I can’t post new. The ‘new post’ function offers ‘save to draft’ and ‘submit for review’ only but when I choose either it says something like ‘you are not allowed/permitted to edit this post’.
    It does this for all my admin users.
    I tried to create new admin users and despite the process seeming to work, new users don’t appear in the user list. The confirmation email has blank username and email fields.
    I am able to post using Quick post and then editing after but it seems like my admins have lost their new post privileges.
    I have tried deactivating all plug-ins and using the 2012 theme but it didn’t help.

    Hello again
    Sorry. I did manage to post an item via Quick Post a couple of hours ago and I edited some of the text. I can’t add that item to a category, though.
    Now, I can’t add an item via Quick Post.
    So, anybody logged on to the site as admin can edit existing posts but can’t add new. They can’t add new users, too, even though the add user process goes all the way to ‘user added’, the new names never appear in the user list.

    Sorry about this.
    OK so, logged in as administrator I can edit existing posts but I can’t change their categories. I can’t add new users and I can’t change the roles of existing users.
    This is my first day back at work and my new year resolution was to post lots more items on my site – at least three a day.
    First thing I did was update to 3.5 and now this. The dog’s barking constantly, my kids are nagging and I’ve given up alcohol for January. Now it’s started to rain. Please help.
