    Hi

weird one this – for some reason (our host was tinkering with our site without permission I don’t know exactly what they did), the link to USERS in our WP Admin area, suddenly is not working. It redirects to the homepage.

The URL on that default link is users.php

If we go to the same URL but add an empty role at the end i.e. wp-admin/users.php?role

Then we can access the Users area ok. Anyone come across this before or know what might have caused that? Or how we might repair it?

I’ve tried using the Admin Menu Editor plugin, but it doesn’t permit you to change the Users link – if we change it to a ‘custom item’ we can change the URL, but then it creates a second Users link – and in both cases, the ?role part is missing. I don’t really want to start adding plugins to paper over cracks caused by something else anyway.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It’s a bit ugly having to use a bookmark to manage our users. Many thanks.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Nineteen theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

Great thanks. It was a plugin.

A paid plugin that’s worked fine right up until we migrated to a new server. Then, kills the site for no good reason. My God working in WordPress is like mixing random chemicals in a confined space.
