Admin unreachable

  • Hi,

    I just tried to install iThemes Security on WordPress 4.0, but after making the necessary back-ups and enabling the default settings, I got stuck when I tried to change the wp-admin slug (the reason in the first place I installed iThemes Security — to hide it).

    I changed the slug into adminx and logged out of wp-admin.

    Now here’s the thing: both wp-admin and adminx aren’t doing anything at this moment. My first guess was it could have something to do with this plug-in called ‘Site Offline or Coming Soon’. It lets you install a temporary Coming Soon page. That same page is the only thing that’s being displayed right now (on all slugs and subpage-urls).

    Before I decided to try and put back the back-up or plunge my database, I wanted to see if anyone in here could help me ??

    Ok, so I found this way to temporary disable the ‘Site Offline and Coming Soon’ plug-in, by renaming the plug-in folder. That made adminx reappear.

    I then logged in, renamed the folder back to normal (so I could enable or disable the plug-in in the backend) and things seem to be working like normal again.

    I lost wp-admin area.
