• Hi WordPress people,

A weird one which is really bugging me!

I am developing a site for a client and it’s all looking good. I was doing some content amends through the admin and switched back to the front end, refreshed and my changes were there – fine. I logged out of the admin to do a quick test elsewhere and when I tried to go to /wp-admin/ moments later I get my theme’s 404.php page. The front end is still ok though.

However, If I login with Chrome, I can access the admin fine.

I have tried clearing my Firefox browser cache, setting permalinks of and re-setting them, deactivating the maintenance mode plugin and deleting a couple of plugins I added yesterday (although the problem did not occur immediately after installing those).

I’ve had a look round on the forum but can’t find the right reason so far. ANy suggestions appreciated.

    Regards,

    Pete

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Cheers Esmi,

Was hoping not to go through all that seeing as the site was 1% of launch. Backing up before I do anything that drastic – still want to know what as caused this though.

Not really drastic and takes about 5 minutes or so – just basic debug.
