• Hey all…

I love WordPress and I greatly appreciate that it’s free. However, I can’t seem to get past the slowness issue on the Admin pages. I’ve read a threads on this forum that seem very similar to my problems, but none of them seem to be resolved.

    Some info:

    • I went with the default WordPress installation; I haven’t installed any plugins.
    • The web server it resides on is running Fedora Core 4.
    • The database server is on an internal machine, also FC4.
    • I can browse the Internet from the web server (I use lynx).
    • Everything else about the site runs fine, except for the pages with detailed pictures, which is understandable.

Any help would be appreciated, and if I figure it out on my own, I’ll post the solution here.

    Thanks,
    Dale

  • I’ve been having the same issue, but if you ask some people they will tell you that it isn’t happening with a lot of people. Well, it is. Yesterday I think I set a record, it took just over 99 seconds for a write post page to come up.

I have some luck today though. I re-uploaded all the wordpress files in the wp-admin and wp-includes folders. So far so good, but we’ll see.

I personally feel that the peppiness of WordPress was sacrificed when the developers had to hurry to counteract the hackings that happened. Hopefully they have worked out all that and can now iron out the slowness bug that has been occurring. I wish they had a “lite” version that is minimal on all the scripts and queries. As far as the admin side of WordPress, as long as I can create posts and pages and edit them, thats all I need.
