• I’m a little overwhelmed by all the help manuals. Could you please explain to me what those boxes mean in READING.

I have made the front page of my blog a sticky post so that when my blog opens that is always the first post my reader sees.

I have filed my various named posts in catagories on the sidebar.

What I discovered is that if I put the number of posts at 25 in both Blog Pages and Syndication, which is the number of articles I’ve written (on my old Google Blog), I can scroll from the first post to the last and everything looks fine. However, if I click on one of my catagories the screen does not show the associated photo at the top of the story and it just shows a few lines of the article.

I’ve assigned some of my stories to one or two different catagories ie a dog story is in both Police and Dogs.

I have no idea what “syndication” means by the way.

  • That’s probably because your theme is set to show the_excerpt on archive pages rather than the_content.

It usually helps to provide a link to the site so people can see what you are referring to.

I think syndication is your rss feed. Those settings should control what is seen in the feed – summaries or complete text, and how many.

I click on one of my catagories the screen does not show the associated photo at the top of the story and it just shows a few lines of the article.

This could be a characteristic of the theme you are using that causes the article excerpt to be returned rather than the full story when selected from a category. If so, the entire contents should be revealed by clicking on the title of the article once a category is selected.

crud.. sorry about that SS_Minnow. I got up to answer the phone and just hit submit when I sat back down. ??

No worries @claytonjames. Never feel bad about helping out.

    Hello.

    Thank you for your replies.

I think my problem may be with the template “Desk Mess” I chose.

I switched back to the default and the problem was no longer visible.

I’m just trying another template and everything appears normal. I can either scroll through my entire blog or I can open a specific post.

That syndication thing … I don’t really think that’s something I need. Shall I just revert the number to 0 or leave it at 25, which is the number of posts I’ve made?

Now, if I could just figure out how to get all the dates off all my posts.

    I am https://mrsmuddled.com
