• Hi on my admin screen, I can only view dashboard/posts/media/links/pages/comments and profile. Toolbar/appearance/plugins/users/tools and settings are missing. I have looked through the various forum comments but can’t seem to see a match to my query

  • Just a guess, but it sounds like you are logged in as an editor, not an admin.

Many thanks for your suggestion but I think I am logged in as an admin because the screen says “howdy admin”.

The admin in “howdy admin” is the username, but it still may be assigned the role of editor. Go to Admin->Users->All Users, locate admin in the list and see what Role is assigned in the right column.

EDIT: Sorry, I just reread your original post and you cannot see ‘Users’, so this suggestion does not apply. I will look for other solutions.

If it does not say ‘Administrator’, then you will need to log in as an administrator to see the other options.

If it does say Administrator, then I do not know what could be causing the problem.

See this article for a way to gain emergency access if you have ftp and can access the database.
