• I have password protected the wp-admin directory, and immediately the media Flash image uploader stopped working. HTTP error in red. The browser image uploader will upload one at a time still, but this is not practical for uploading galleries with 20 + imgs. I have permalinks set to this format: /%year%/%postname%/

Is it possible to have the admin directory passwd protected and still use the image uploader properly? I just had a wordpress installation hacked so I’m looking for ways to prevent.

This is a very important question about security which has been ignored (in 4 days no response). That’s unfortunate. Password protecting the admin directory is an excellent step towards better security for the site. Doing that disables some of the default functions.
