Hey, all. Just installed yet another WordPress blog. This one is using 2.7, and is a straightforward installation.

Problem: On the admin screens, the images are either not showing at all, or they’re corrupted — I’m talking about what’s in the /wp-admin/images directory, for example, fav.png, icons32.png, menu-dark.gif, etc.

If I try to view the images directly, I get the error, “The image … cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.”

I’ve completely reinstalled twice, cleared the browser cache, and so on. No joy. I’ve checked to make sure that binary files are uploading as binaries, and ASCII as ASCII. Ditto.

Weirder, if I use my FTP client to view the files either on my local drive or in the WordPress installation, they look just fine. Only when displayed on the admin page(s) are they screwy.

Anyone have any ideas what’s going on? Thanks!

  • I just posted about this too…much better description than mine. I can’t figure out for the life of me what’s going on. Hopefully someone will reply soon.

Okay I’m having this exact same problem on one of my domains too. even the wordpress logo at the login page doesn’t show. This started right after I upgraded WP. I’ve reuploaded all the core files twice and its still the same.

its not a plugin conflict either cos I deactivated all of the plugins to test for conflicts, and it didn’t make a difference

    very puzzling
