  • to a wordpress site that I created in a sub-folder within my webspace on 123-reg

Where was the original WordPress site created? What’s the url?
If you want it to have a different url, then you need to change the urls in the database of the previous site.

    Hello Christine,

    Thank you for the reply.

I have webspace with 123-reg and have several sub-folders containing the materials for websites that I have hand written myself (i.e. not wordpress or any other cms). The domain names for these websites are mapped to the folders and I have had no problem until now.

The wordpress site was created within a folder called inspirationbeads_wp (https://www.daveb.co.uk/inspirationbeads_wp). I tried mapping the domain name which didn’t work, so I then experimented by changing the addresses/paths in the wordpress and site addresses within general settings. It was after this that the mentioned problem occurred?

    Thank you,

    Dave

Just to let you know that I have fixed the error by going into the database and changing the site url to the directory of the folder that contains the WordPress site, https://www.daveb.co.uk/inspirationbeads_wp

Thank you to Christine for a nudge in the right direction : )
