admin not saving changes

When trying to save the fields needed on level sign-up the changes are not being recorded/saved. It always reverts to the original settings not the adjusted options.
My other post regarding forgotten passwords has now grown to epic proportions for ‘ordinary’ users. The first option does not work with populating the fields as there are no pre-filled type-lines and the second option throws up a bunch of confusing type fields for the user to fill in:
1. email text line -> Reset Password 2. receive email ‘Greetings from…’ 1st option hyperlink back to original request or 2nd option passcode text enter on original confirmation page submit then ignore repeated confirm page and go to home screen to login. I have tried to change this through different re-direct pages and stripping them all out so that follow the initial page flow through. I can do it only because I know a little more about the back-end than the average user, but they are getting more frustrated by the day.
