We have had jobs pending approval for months & we did not receive any notifications.

I have enabled email logging & the job pending notification emails are not being generated at all. All other emails are being generated & sent from WordPress/multiple plugins: password resets, membership signups, contact form submissions.. We are using SMTP facilitated by Mailgun.

I read through the article you linked to in the previous post but I didn’t find anything that could help in our case.

How can we fix this? Thanks!

    Hi @megseoh !

Since no emails are being generated, please first check that you have enabled the admin email notifications in the Job Manager Settings (Email Notifications tab).

If yes, then I would recommend you try disabling other plugins (but leaving the email logging plugin enabled) and check if any other plugin is conflicting with WP Job Manager. Ideally, you should create a staging site where you can start from scratch (without the Mailgun) and confirm the emails are being created then add plugins one by one and check the notifications in each step.

    Hi @megseoh,

It has been more than one week since we have heard from you, so I’m marking this topic as resolved.

But if you have any further questions or need some more help, you’re welcome to reply here or open another thread.

I added WP Job Manager to my site last night and I also am not getting admin notifications of jobs posted by those with an “Employer” role… I installed WP mail logging and it does not show the emails are ever generated. I also installed WP Mail SMTP and got a test / setup message just fine, but nothing from WP Job Manager?? Any ideas?

    Thanks!!

@bluejay77 and @bindlegirl – Quick update, I know the system is working properly (other than sending admin emails about job postings by those with “employer” roles, as I just received an email about a test job expiring. Therefore the system can send them, the plugin simply is not generating the admin email about new jobs needing approved. Also, the check boxes are checked to do so.

    Hi again,

I checked but could not replicate the issue on my test website. Whenever a new job listing is submitted by a user with the employer role, new email notification gets generated.

It’s possible that there might be a conflict with one of your current plugins or your theme.

Try disabling all of your plugins except WP Job Manager (and add-ons). Then try testing again to see if the issue persists. If that resolves your issue, you can find what was causing it by enabling each plugin one by one while continuing to test.

If that doesn’t help, you can also try switching to the Twenty Twenty theme via Appearance > Themes, and test again. If the issue is resolved then you know it’s a problem with the theme, and you’ll need to contact the theme author for further assistance.

Let us know how it goes.

    @gaurav984

I switched to the Twenty Twenty theme and I turned off all plugins except Job Manager – still not getting any notifications of new jobs entered by the employer role. ??

@cmccluskey , can you check Job Listings > Settings > Email Notifications and confirm if the email notifications are enabled there?

Can we know how are the jobs created? Are they created using a front-end form or through wp-admin?

@dericleeyy – yes, the Email notifications are on. I even tried removing the WP Job Manager plugin completely and reinstalling, but still no success.

I created a test account with “Employer” role rights to add jobs, but approval is required for them to publish. When I enter a new job through the job-dashboard page and “new” in the menu, signed in with the test account, it says the job will be submitted for review, I can see the job in the list needing reviewed when logging in as the admin, but the system is not generating an email. I have not created anything beyond what the plug in came with when installed. I’ve added email logging and see other emails generated by the system as they should, but nothing from WP Job Manager.

I entered a job signed in as the admin and set an expiration date for two days later and I have email notifications on for jobs expiring. I got the email for the expiration, but not for jobs needing approval.

    Hi @cmccluskey,

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to replicate your issue: I created a new job listing on my test site, and even if it was set as pending I got an email notification about that.

Can you try disabling the following two settings for me from Job Listings > Settings> Job Submissions?

    – Require an account to submit listings
    – Enable account creation during submission

Then try to submit a new job listing by using the frontend page, and let me know if you get a notification email nudging you to review and approve the submission.

You may want to uncheck both settings and/or one by one to see if there are changes in the email notification.

Let me know how you get on!

@erania-pinnera – Unchecked both, submitted a job and I got the notification that time!! So, it apparently is not working if someone is logged into the site, but no log in required gets a notification. ?? Not sure if this is as designed or not. I appreciate the help!!

@erania-pinnera – Quick update – now, even those logged in and submitting the job posts result in notifications being sent! Apparently the “Require an Account to submit listings” results in no notifications being sent and unchecking that seems to have fixed it. Thank you so much!!!!!!

    Hi @cmccluskey,

Thanks for the update. I tried replicating the issue on my website with the “Require an Account to submit listings” setting disabled and enabled.

When I submitted a new job listing, the notification email was generated in both scenarios.

To check further, can you try creating a clone/staging version of your site and check if the issue repeats there.

You can also try to enable WordPress Debugging with the SAVEQUERIES function enabled and check what happened when the plugin sends the email vs when it does not.

Lastly, can you tell me which version of the WP Job Manager plugin is installed on your site? Have you made any code modifications to the plugin?

@gaurav984 – I have Version 1.35.3 installed, and I am using the code straight from the install with no customization or code modifications. I will enable debugging and see what happens this weekend.
