• I’m looking for some clarification on admin login alerts. When I check “Alert me when someone with administrator access signs in” I get an alert every time I sign in. That’s as expected. But when I also check “Only alert me when that administrator signs in from a new device” it really doesn’t make much difference.

    I’m assuming that “a new device” means that a cookie of some sort has timed out, is that right? Is there any way to make the timeout longer?

    Are there any further options that can be used to control these alerts? For example is there somewhere I can configure it not to alert me about admin logins from my home address? That would be ideal.

    Any info appreciated,

    Mike

    Hi @mike80222, thanks for your question.

    There is a cookie for each user and IP address the user has logged in with from with the same browser. The cookies themselves last for 1 year.

    Logging in from many different IPs over time, using incognito/private browsing, different browsers or in some cases enabling a browser setting to delete cookies and temporary files on exit could affect the accuracy of those alerts.

    Thanks,
    Peter.

    @wfpeter,

    I did a bit more testing. It looks to me like if two different admins log in, one after the other, they both get alerted every time. As if admin2 resets the cookie for admin1, then admin1 resets for admin2. Is that possible? Or am I confused somehow?

    Is there any way to simply tell WF not to alert for logins from my primary home address?
