    Hi Team,

I run Wordfence on a bunch of sites. On one site in particular, I receive an admin login email alert every time a specific user logs into WP admin.

The issue is, this user is set as a Shop Manager (WooCommerce) rather than a site admin.

None of the other Wordfence sites alert me when their Shop Manager logs in.

Is there a way to fix this up? It’s a little annoying.

Quick background: there was a time (months ago) when I bumped this user up to admin level for an unrelated reason, then when I brought her back down to shop manager I still receive emails whenever she logs in.

Thanks so much for your time!

  • Hey @smes,

How did you or what did you use to escalate the user role to admin?

Are you certain the user doesn’t still have any admin privileges?

    Thanks,

Hello @wfgerald, thanks for your reply.

I just used the native WordPress user settings.

ie, Users > All Users > Click on “Edit” on the appropriate user and update user permissions.

I’m not sure if it would impact this at all, but I also have the plugin called Admin Menu Editor Pro installed, which I use to give that user (“Shop Manager”) access to 1 or 2 admin settings.

Though, I’m 90% sure (based on memory) that the issue I posted about originally started occurring before I installed Admin Menu Editor Pro.

    Many thanks for your time!

    Hey @smes,

I believe we’re at the root of the issue now. User roles are arbitrary. It’s not about the “admin” user, but moreover what capabilities they have. If you’ve shared some admin capabilities with the user that’s why it’s being recognized as an “admin”.

    Roles and Capabilities

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
