Today when trying to log in as the admin to my WP blog which has been established for years, I am getting a redirect message to install. (ifitshipitshere.com/wp-admin/install.php)

I do not know why. The only thing I can think of is that last night I changed the “preferred domain” on Google’s webmaster tools to include the www for indexing purposes, which it did not have before.

Did this screw everything up? Please advise.

  • What you did wouldn’t result in that error. Talk to the webhost, which appears to be iPower. There is an error on the second page

[User ‘testing_1’ has exceeded the ‘max_questions’ resource (current value: 75000)]

that means the database server is down. That’s why WordPress thinks it needs to be installed again. Hopefully your old database is still on the server.

Thanks so much, I’ll check with them right now.

Turns out that the Jetpack plug-in was causing the redirect according to iPower. Kind of bummed because I liked what it offered.

No, iPower is absolutely wrong. Jetpack is not going to change database access credentials. Bullpucky, as they say.

I believe you because I put that plug-in back and it worked. BUT then I had to remove the Yoast SE plugin. The problem kept occurring intermittently all day.

They told me that unless I purchased more SQL space it would continue to do this problem.

I told them I’d purchase more but if it didn’t not solve the problem, I want the charges reversed.

    An all day project. sigh.

It’s best to find a new host; it will be worth it: see Recommended WordPress Web Hosting
