    Hi,

Over the past couple days, several sites I maintain were locking out their admins. We would input the correct user information on first try and they would be permanently banned. We then had to login on another machine to unban them. This was on version 2.6.1

I’ve been told version 2.4.7 released on March 1st solves this issue. Is this correct? Or is this bug slated to be fixed in a future release? I’ve begun updating the sites with this version, but I just want to confirm this before completely following through with this job.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi @atnc,

The version 2.4.6.1 has additional improvements and this can be tested for you. Another recommendation is to add the IP of the admins that usually are logging in, to avoid them from being temporarily locked out. As the lockout feature is sensitive, it will detect any incorrect login(maybe due to an invalid password), and temporarily lock that IP out.

Let us know how it goes.

    Best,

    Hi @wpmudev-support9

This issue actually happened with version 2.4.6.1. Let me stress again, this happened when all correct user information was entered at login on first try. After looking through the Defender logs, it does appear the cause was from the “empty username” bug. But I just want to confirm 2.4.7 solves any unjustified user lockouts. This is a serious issue. Especially considering our website admins use VPNs to log into the site. Their IP addresses can change if they reconnect to the VPN.

Happened with me as well. Everything locked out. There are some serious issues with Defender.
