    Hey,

I also replied this to your other thread but just to put it here for anyone reading this in the future:

We’re currently looking into a bug that might cause for double logging of downloads. This would cause the meta value not to increase but a log entry would be created thus creating a difference between the two.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi poundsixzeros,

I’ve thought about a similar feature as you suggest in the past. I’m open to adding more fine-tuned counter increments, but I don’t really want to invest time into coding the feature if Barry Kooij doesn’t see it as valuable.

Barry, maybe you could comment on whether a feature like this would be considered for inclusion? I imagine it would be included on the Logging page of options as:

Increment counter for downloads by: [ select from: all users, registered users, unregistered users ]

I’m not so sure fine-tuning beyond this (like for admins, but not editors) would be worthwhile.

    Hi mdmower,
Admin counts have been excluded for years (see the faq’s tab). It just doesn’t appear to be working right now.
It would be nice, as you suggest, to be able to block counts from user roles other than just admin.
Even better would be by capability so selected individual users wouldn’t be counted regardless of role. Like you may not want the website owner’s downloads to be counted but s/he may not have the admin role.
Managing by capability would be the most granular. Ideally, you could assign the capability to a role or to an individual. That’d be sweet!
