Admin Dashboard URL's Get Lost in Navigation

  • The plugin is very buggy when it comes to navigating through your various network site’s dashboards.

    I constantly have to watch the address bar as the domain name portion of the URL is never what it should be.

    So before I take any action on a dashboard, I must always step through the following:

    1. hover over My Sites
    2. then hover over the first, or primary site in the Network — for me it is the one with the domain name where I installed the NfW plugin system
    3. then click Dashboard
    4. (that resets the domain name)
    5. now you can hover over My Sites
    6. then hover over Network Admin
    7. and click Dashboard to get you to the proper dashboard

    Hope this helps you out a bit in dealing with this frustrating plugin.

    Hi frank –

    This is just how administering an install with multiple networks is – each network must be managed from its own domain, and you have to go to the main site on that domain to get to the Network Admin for it.

    This is not an issue with this plugin. Here’s a better way to get around:

    1. Go to the Networks screen
    2. Click the number under the “Sites” column to visit the Network Admin section for each network.

    Not sure I can follow/navigate this one…

    Example, I am on the Dashboard of my Network Site #3.

    Where is the “Networks screen” on that dashboard?

    Is Networks for WordPress activated on each network?

    @DavidDean,

    NfWP is “network activated” at the My Sites > Network Admin > Plugins level.

    NfWP does not appear as a plugin at any of my network sites’ individual plugin option list.

    Should it?

    Plugins must be enabled at the network level before they can be activated at the site level. However, this plugin should be network-activated.

    Plugins are enabled and/or activated per network, so you will need to do this for each network.

    I have 1 installation of WordPress with a Network Administration capability activated on my first/main site.

    I then added 2 additional sites to my “network”. (at least I think I have)

    So when you say “you will need to do this for each network” are you referring to my 3 sites or are you referring to additional networks, if I were to create them?

    Sorry, but I get lost in all the nomenclature of the term “network” with respect to my single install of WP ad the 3 sites I have running under it.
