Adjusting Fuzzy Search in Relevanssi – more than just always or sometimes

  • Is there a way to adjust the fuzzy settings to only show plurals? We have fuzzy set to always because we want “can coolers” to show up when someone searches for “can cooler”. What is also happening is “candy cooler” is also showing up when someone is searching for “can cooler”. I understand this is how Relevanssi is setup to work. Either fuzzy is on or off. I wanted to see if there were other settings that could be changed to only allow plurals to show up in the search results.

  • Relevanssi Premium has a stemmer that helps with the plurals. You can also create one yourself, just create a relevanssi_remove_punctuation filter that strips “s” from the end of each word. Then disable fuzzy search. That way “cooler” will find “coolers”, but “can” will not find “candy”.
