How does one remove the white spacing between rows? The default settings leaves a ton of white space between each row. How do I cinch them closer?

I’ve tried changing the “Row/Widget Bottom Margin” in the general settings to 0 (and even -50) and nothing changed. I’ve also tried changing the spacing and margin in the layout settings of any given row. Again, no change.

I’ve found multiple threads for this issue suggesting custom css solutions, but none of them have worked.

This is a very common problem, and the adjustment of vertical spacing is a necessary part of any web page. Is there really no functional setting for this yet?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi shizlist,

I’ve had a look at your website and all of the SiteOrigin Page Builder spacing has been removed. The other elements of spacing are being added by your theme. SiteOrigin Page Builder is designed to work alongside themes so it won’t forcefully override theme spacing which is why adjusting the Row/Widget Bottom Margin isn’t removing all spacing present on the page itself. Does that make sense?

You’ll need to remove the relevant spacing from your website using CSS. Alternatively, you could change to a different theme that doesn’t add as much spacing.

    Hey Alex,

Ok cool. Yeah that all makes sense. Thanks! I’ll tinker with the theme and see what I can make happen. Thanks for the follow up!

    Hey Alex,

I marked this a resolved already, but wanted to give you an update/ask for further suggestions, because I’m getting that strong impression this might actually be a Page Builder issue and not a theme issue. Here’s why:

The huge spacing between rows only seems to happen on the bottom of images placed in the “Site Origin Image” widget, or in the “Site Origin Editor” widget. If I use the standard “Image” widget, the spacing is normal and minimal. The problem with that though is that the image aligns left by default in this widget, and there doesn’t seem to be an option for aligning the image in the center. So even if I put it in the middle column of a three column row, it’s off center.

So it would seem my current options are either huge bottom padding or an uncentered image.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

    Hi shizlist,

Can you please add a SietOrigin Image widget to your home page so I can inspect the resulting spacing? As long as you’ve adjusted the Row/Widget bottom margin no additional spacing will be added to the widget outside of theme spacing – that’s the only actual spacing we add. I can definitely verify for you if this is the case or not.

You can also verify this by temporarily changing to a non-default theme.

    Hey Alex,

So I’ve tried this now on four different themes. Same story for all of them. The video and text rows space just fine, but the image row always has a large space after it (this happens whether I use the SO Image widget or place an image in the SO editor widget).

As it stands right now, I have a non default theme active and am using the SO image widget for the image at the top of the page.

    Hi dnacannon,

Your new theme is adding roughly 41px to the top of the h1 used on the page and you also have a line break (br) present in the header which is adding additional spacing between the image and the title text.

Once both of these are remove, you’ll end up with this amount of spacing.

Wow, I didn’t even notice the line break. That’s embarrassing lol.

As far as the spacing on the heading font, I can’t for the life of me figure out how to remove it, and it seems to be present on every theme I try. So I just took a screenshot of the text and placed it on the page as an image. It’ll do the trick for now.

    Thanks for all the help!

    Cheers
