  • Could it be a browser display issue? I’m using Chrome on my Mac, and it looks fine to me.

Oh really? I see. Well, I am not sure why I cannot see the changes I make on my blog/site… Like, whenever I make a change and refresh the page, the change is not visible to me at all, but for others it is.. I tried with both FF and Chrome. Can it be something to do with cookies/cache, or?

Also, any ideas why my site loads so slowly..? It can sometimes take like 10 seconds to load my main page….. why’s that and how do I fix that..?

    Thanks!

    Looks ok in IE9.

    Check speed, https://pagespeed.googlelabs.com/pagespeed/

Yeah, it’s pretty slow. Who do you host with? Unless you’re running some kind of resource intensive plugins, or have done hacking to the code of your site that might introduce errors, it’s most likely that you have a crummy hosting setup.

The browser issue could be about cache, but hard to say for sure. In Firefox, reload the page by hitting F5, which will for the page to ignore cache on reload.

Ah, it looks ok now from my side as well. Worked fine with FF.

Yeah, the pagespeed is really slow. I don’t understand what can be wrong… I’ve got only few plugins installed:
    – WP Super Cache
    – WordPress Spam Blocker
    – Hello Dolly
    – Wordbooker
    – Disqus Comment System
    – Fotobook
    – Facebook Members
    – AddToAny: Share/Bookmark/Email Buttons
    – Akismet
    – About Me widget
    – 1 Flash Gallery Widget
    – 1 Flash Gallery

Those are all i’ve got installed, but some of them aren’t active/running. Any of those plugins that are resource intensive, hmm?

And nah, I haven’t done any hacking to the code.

    I am currently hosting @ one.com

Turn them all off as a test. If your site is quicker, then plugins are the issue, and you can turn them on one-by-one until you find the culprit.

If the site is still slow, it’s probably time to move to a new host.

Hmm… must be something about the site itself since it is so slow.

Also, how do I make my blog posts (on my main page) show only A PART of the story/text? I want people/users to click on the actual blog post itself to read the full story. I have tried looking through the settings, but so far i haven’t found anything that lets me do this… Where do i do this..?

    Hi Shookie,

Can you start a new topic for that question? It’s difficult for others new users to search for answers to similar problems if they are hidden at the bottom of a different topic, such as this one is.

    Cheers

Alright. Will do that. Sorry about that. I am just used to not create multiple topics etc. Hehe.
