• Plugin randomly adds a big green button to Gutenberg for adding things from the Extendify library. If this library is in any way necessary for the sliders to operate and not just a separate feature, it isn’t mentioned. In tiny text at the bottom it tells you the MetaSlider plugin is responsible, but if you want to opt out of this unrelated feature your only options are to just hide it in your personal preferences or add an MU plugin to disable it on the site. Most WordPress users are not developers and would have trouble adding an MU plugin.

Tactics like these clearly make this a plugin you should not trust with your website. Who knows what else it will do in the future.

  • Hi @crowinck – thanks for sharing your feedback. While many users find value in the pattern library (which includes patterns that make use of the MetaSlider block), we understand that it may not be useful for everyone.

We’ve also heard feedback about the disable options not being easy enough (like you said, to disable it on the entire site today, it requires an MU plugin). We are working on an easier way to allow admins to enable or disable the library in the interface. This will likely be available in a couple of weeks and I’ll report back here to let you know when that is available.

This is certainly a balance that we are trying to strike. We’ve added a note in the library itself to try to make it clear where the library came from. We also have a section about it in the plugin readme (but admittedly, there is a lot of content there). We also added an admin notice letting people know about this new feature. We are trying to make sure we are being transparent, but not annoying people with too many notifications. However, your feedback is helpful to hear that you don’t find it transparent enough.

Thanks again for providing your feedback. It helps us to continue improving and providing a better experience for our users.

We’re more people eagerly waiting for this one several months later. ??

Sorry for neglecting to follow up on this and than you for the nudge, @syntaxerrorno .

We had updated the Extendify settings so that admins are able to hide the button from either their personal view or for everyone on the entire site. Hopefully this provides an easy way to control what displays in the editor.

You can see more info and screenshots here: https://extendify.com/how-to-disable-the-extendify-library/

Thanks, but wouldn’t it have been more fair and made more sense to add it as a global setting (admin.php?page=metaslider-settings), instead of “hiding” it away?

    Just my 5 cents … ??

I want metaslider and not extendify. if i wanted extendify i’d just add the plugin like every other plugin. and i’m not keen on having this extra unwanted code sitting on my website. it feels a bit icky having it snuck in on the back of a popular plugin.

Thanks @chrisgib @syntaxerrorno. We’ve heard you on this and will be making a change very shortly.

As requested, there is now a “Disable Extendify” button in MetaSlider > Settings & Help.
